Christmas 2009

Christmas was so fun, well it always is, what's not to love about the Christmas spirit? Ok ok, i love receiving gifts too...ha ha.

We started off the Christmas season at the Grand America Hotel attending Breakfast with Santa. I love love their food, it's sooo good. The best part is they have two omelette stations, a dessert bar, fresh fruit, hot chocolate, and if you aren't in the mood for breakfast there's a selection of corn dogs, and mac n' cheese. Oh, and there's a complimentary photo with santa too.

Micah and some of his nieces and nephews, left to right, Hobie, Aiden, Aspen, Jeffro, and Uncle Micah.

Camie and I taking a break between eating. It's just too good to stay away.

Uncle Micah and Jeffro being silly.

Chrismas Eve we traveled up to Logan to be with my family. We switch off every year with Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's a good thing we have Kairie to spoil, it's just a weird feeling when there's not a kid around. Even though she's only 4 months old and doesn't understand what or who Santa is, it's still fun.

Here's Kairie and Grandpa Kenny. We like to tease and if you look closely if you put all of their hair onto one person they would have a full head of hair. Kairie is bald on the bottom, and my dad is bald on the top.

We go to Grandma Aftons house for a little party. Karla had purchased Super Mario Brothers for the Wii so we liked to play that all night. Grandma made some of her yummy cinnamon rolls, but they kept disappearing before everyone got there. Micah blamed it on the "Ghost of Christmas Past" Hmmm...I caught them red-handed with one of them!

Here's some of the cousins, Grandma has 22 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. So it was a smaller crowd this year. Here's us in our pajamas.

I don't know why or how this happens. We like to wrestle in my family, and the living room is just getting way too small for big boys to wrestle anymore. Here's Micah and Uncle Ron and then there's Grandma in the background yelling "You boys best not be breaking anything!! Or I'll swat your behinds! I don't care how big and tough you are."

CHRISTMAS MORNING!! We all slept in. Really slept in. I woke everyone up at 10:45 a.m. to open presents. Guess we just partied too hard on Christmas Eve. Here's some of my Christmas presents from Micah/Santa. Scriptures with "Tawni Afton Platt" my new name finally!! A pretty all black Fossil watch, a Columbia jacket, picture frame, and glasses from Ikea.

Uncle Travis and Uncle Ryan got Kairie a BUMBO. She loves it. She loves finally being able to sit up on her "own" and hang out with the boys. Here's Uncle Ryan and her watching some Christmas shows on the TV.

Here's the video from Christmas morning. In our family Santa presents aren't wrapped, and you can't pass the stairs until everyone is there and my dad gives the ok. It used to be mayhem, one of us trying to be the first one in the room. But since we're older and much more sophisticated we try and act like adults. But it's still fun.

Travis got an XBOX 360, Ashley got a new cell phone and ipod Nano, Ryan and Jr. Platts (us) got Wii's :) We are so excited to add to our collection of Wii games now. For sure the Wii Fit, and Super Mario Brothers is what we're planning on getting...for now.

Santa Baby!

All you photographers out there, don't flinch too much at some mistakes! Lately I've been trying to figure out this darn Photoshop stuff. It's frustrating for sure, and you can only watch YouTube Tutorials so many times, and when it still isn't doing what it's suppose to, I get lots of satisfaction from pushing the close button.

So luckily I have a niece that will pose for me...ok ok ok, she really doesn't have a choice, and Ashley wasn't around at the time, so out came my Fujifilm camera and her Santa hat.

Getting a hang of it, thank goodness for Youtube and the book "Photoshop for Dummies". I'm looking at investing in a good camera that will allow me to get macro shots, and a quicker response time for rapid shots. But that requires money. Darn. Out of luck there.

♥ Micah David Richard Platt ♥

12.15.1983 @ 6:27 p.m.

One amazing guy was born (I'm sure Gaye will agree) in a snowstorm!

When I first met Micah he was a Junior at Utah State University, and he was CRAZY! Crazy fun. I never met someone that was so energetic, loud, helpful, opinionated, and I didn't think that I would get along with him. But after two years of on and off dating, we were married.

He is 26 years old! So I was joking around with him yesterday:

Me: "Babe, you're an oldie! If you were a Senior in highschool, I would have been a Freshman. I'm jail bait!"

So in honor of his birthday here's 26 reasons why he's amazing (in no particular order):

1. He knows the most random things. Like what the Declaration of Independence says.
2. He's a morning person. One of us has to be.
3. He's athletic. Rugby, Lacrosse, Water Polo, Swimming, Football, Snowboarding.
4. He can make friends anywhere.
5. He HATES waking me up early in the morning, but will if I ask him to.
6. He puts his dishes in the sink.
7. He can lift very heavy objects. His nickname is "Forklift" in my family.
8. He is always eager to help anybody in need.
9. He has a strong testimony of the church.
10. He's a great public speaker.
11. He keeps his Jeep clean.
12. He can't wait to be a dad.
13. He gives me a kiss every morning, after I get home from work, and right before we go to bed
14. He knows ALOT of songs. He's a walking jukebox.
15. He's a college graduate.
16. He's a great cook. I said it once already, but one of us has to be.
17. He surprises me with cute notes, flowers, and cards.
18. He gives me leg and back rubs when I've had a bad day.
19. He takes care of the dogs every morning.
20. He never complains that I don't iron his clothes enough.
21. He is such a hard worker in everything he does: school, church, relationships.
22. He has a great sense of style.
23. He loves to travel and see new things.
24. He is always concerned about how I'm doing.
25. He is so positive in life, always looking at the glass half-full.
26. He chose me to be his wife :)

He had a great birthday, I had a coworker of Micah's decorate his cubicle, surprised him by taking him out to lunch, he got some great presents (work shoes, tie, cuff links, charger station) and then out to Texas Roadhouse for some yummy dinner.

I love him and everything he does for our little family, I can't wait (well I can for a little bit more) for him to be a dad, I can't wait to see him after a long days of work, and I especially can't wait for more birthdays with Micah!

Top 8 Reasons I LOVE winter...

I'm a cold person. Really, my body runs a 1/2 - 1 degree colder than the normal 98.6 degrees. I was raised in northern Utah, a COLD place, and yet I shiver constantly. For this reason, I hate hate hate Winter. But always trying to look at the glass half-full, I have come up with some reasons to LOVE Winter:

#1: Watching Micah snowboard. He's an awesome snowboarder, he looks so graceful when he's carving down the mountain. Before we got married he would work his school schedule around the snowboarding season; classes MWF, snowboarding T/TH/SA. He hates it when I tell him he looks so graceful. But he does. We've concluded that I will be a skier, since I've broken my wrist 3 times attempting to snowboard.

#2: Christmas concerts. Micah's talented sister and brother-in-law, Britt & Matt, are AMAZING musicians. Britt is wicked good @ playing/teaching the cello, and Matt is a great singer. So great and amazing that Britt is a member of the Orchestra at Temple Square, and Matt is a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. So they are so nice and kind enough to score us some tickets to the Christmas concert every year (THANK YOU GARDNERS!!)

#3: Sweaters, cardigans, layers, layers, and layers. I can now officially wear so many layers to keep warm, that no one can give me a second look because it's OK to wear 3 layers + a coat without looking weird.

#4: Hats, and scarves. Accessories, need I say more?

#5: HOT CHOCOLATE WITH WHIP CREAM!! Yum. I'm not a fan of marshmallows, but I'm a huge fan of whip cream. Just the regular hot chocolate is my fav, none of that mint, vanilla, hazelnut stuff.

#6: Presents. I love to get presents, don't get me wrong, but this is the time of year that I get to pull out that "secretive" bin that has all these random things I have found throughout the year, on clearance or sale, that I put away for gifts. I love to find out what people really want, or need, and they have no idea that I had remembered! PLUS Micah's birthday is Dec. 15, so I try to be as giving as he is on my birthday, so he doesn't get "Jipped" for his birthday and christmas.

#7: HAND WARMERS, or feet warmers, either one works for me. These things are the BEST for cold people like me. I saw that they have a huge box of these at Sam's Club...Hmmm, need I drop any more hints?! ha ha jk.
#8: Snowblocks on cars. Micah thinks this is the weirdest thing. But I LOVE to kick these snow blocks off cars. It's just something I've always enjoyed doing. In my mind it's like I'm a kid again and it's gives me a sense of fulfillment.

Thanksgiving & Arizona

Time for the Thanksgiving post (finally). We started @ the Platt's house this year, the food is sooo good! The dessert buffet was excellent too! After dinner Jeff, Micah, Aiden, and Hobie went outside to play some football...but like little kids go, one always had to be crying, ha ha. It was quite comical. But after 15 minutes of on and off crying we decided we needed to stop.

Blake came to eat with us! He really get's to see Micah in his element...He's a giant toddler we concluded.

Time for Arizona!

I believe this is officer dangel ha ha ha. Look at he Hitler mustache!!!
